Equipping educators with the tools to lead puppetry and visual theatre units within a school context is a core part of the Dead Puppet Society Education program. We have developed a deeply practical approach to scaffolding the learning and skills development of students while also offering a clear pedagogy for teachers to apply within their own classrooms.
With a focus on visual theatre conventions, puppetry, ensemble performance and the translation of page to stage stimulus, this professional development workshop is an opportunity to dive deep into the mechanics of contemporary visual storytelling, and come away with invigorated ideas and new skills.
This workshop will include:
- Puppetry and manipulation skills (including abstract and object)
- Visual theatre conventions and how to approach them
- Ensemble performance making
- Page to stage translation & devising
- Shadow play & handheld lighting techniques
- Directing for visual theatre
