Night on the Milky Way Train

Love and life after loss.

Night on the Milky Way Train is a bi-lingual English/Japanese theatre production inspired by the beloved work of classic Japanese poet and author Miyazawa Kenji.

Written by Matt Seery with Makiko Shibuya, this contemporary adaptation will see Miyazawa’s iconic characters and fantastical universe re-imagined for modern audiences and shared internationally.

Wrought with cosmic imagery and profound philosophy, Night on the Milky Way Train suggests that in the wake of devastating loss, there is reason to hope.

Giovanni finds himself on an exhilarating journey through the galaxy; where time, space and possibility coalesce in joyful, dazzling and sometimes daunting spectacles.
